This year Canyon View’s art show will be held on May 4th in conjunction with our site council's Family Night. For this event, the art room and all 4th grade classes are preparing a night aimed to entertain, inform, and showcase the possibilities that recycling and repurposing everyday materials has awarded our students in a variety of subject areas.

We look forward to seeing you there!

About ME

Hello, My name is Ms. Katy Galaz, and I am a native to Tucson! I love to swim, cook, and spend time with my husband Fernando Gomez, and our dog Rusty.

I come from a large family of educators-who have supported and nurtured me throughout my journey in education. I received my Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Arts and Visual Culture Education from the University of Arizona. The studio focus for my degree being 2-D art practices, with an emphasis in printmaking. I have explored a variety of 3-D processes-and am proficient with clay techniques and ceramics.

Teaching & Learning

Over the course of my studies in education I found an affinity for student-centered learning grounded in community-based art instruction, and approaches such as: Teaching for Artistic Behavior and inquiry-based learning.

Based on such ideals I am excited to facilitate and impart the CFSD art curriculum with choice-based art practices that encourage students to problem solve, and to think creatively and critically as life-long learners.

Thanks! Message sent.
